This site is dedicated to present and debate my past and present research. Most focus will be given to my ongoing research concerning “Environmental triggers of human autoimmunity”. More precisely I presently search for triggers of multiple sclerosis within the large and diverse repertoire of commensal bacteria colonizing the small and large intestine. Peaceful co-existence of host and gut commensals is ensured by advanced mechanisms including intestinal barrier function as well as innate and adaptive host immunity. My hypothesis is that only a subset of gut commensals truly challenges the host resulting in specific host immunity. I postulate that it is likely that these commensals in particular may play a triggering role in human autoimmunity and may be associated with aberrant host immunity and dysbiosis.
My research is conducted within the laboratory of Pr. Guy GOROCHOV located within the “Centre d’immunologie et des maladies infectieuses“ (CIMI Paris). I’m heading a small group of dedicated researchers devoted to unravel potential triggers of human autoimmunity. read more
